Head of the St Andrew North Division, Senior Superintendent Aaron Fletcher, has pointed out that the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) will not support acts of criminality or lawlessness demonstrated by citizens.
This statement came in response to a social uproar by residents of the Grants Pen community earlier today following the fatal shooting of music producer ‘Tadmar’ last evening.
Reports are that the 28-year-old music producer was killed during a confrontation with the police.
Following his death, enraged community members of Grants Pen took to the streets to demand justice for the slain producer.
Fletcher in his statement pointed out that the producer was a well-known criminal who often carried out brazen activities in the community.
“So here today, we have a situation in the Grants Pen community emanating from the community of cruiser barn, where yesterday the police had a confrontation with a known criminal, a man called Tadmar, who we have evidence, shot and killed a man on Sunday, whilst he was performing some construction work in the community and fired shots at another man also,” Fletcher said.
“Now the police haven’t gotten information that the man had returned to his place of abode, went and was confronted,” he added.
Fletcher pointed out that the acts of criminality and states of lawlessness will no longer be tolerated by the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and also noted that the slain producer has yet to be formally identified.
“In show of support for criminality and lawlessness, evidence of magnitude of social decay that has taken place in our society, which will not be supported nor tolerated by the police. We will not tolerate support for criminality nor will we tolerate acts of criminality within the space without taking action,” Fletcher noted.
“The investigation has pretty much been concluded, the file is complete, all that is left is for the deceased to be formally identified,” he added.
