Plans have now been put forth by the Office of the Prime Minister to launch an incentivised campaign aimed at finding illegal weapons.
The matter at hand which was disclosed by the National Council on Friday, January 28, includes providing incentives to persons who provide information that leads to the recovery of illegal weapons.
A consensus was also drawn that significant incentives should be provided to the public who share information leading to the recovery of illegal weapons.
In addition to that, the Council agreed on the development of a natural campaign aimed against illegal guns and gangs.
Furthermore, the primary objective of this campaign as highlighted by the Office of the Prime Minister is to educate the population on the dangers of illegal guns and to dissuade persons from dealing, trafficking, procuring, possessing, and also using illegal guns.
This campaign will also be across all media platforms with its primary target audience comprised of young men.
Additionally, a significant public education component will also be introduced on the new Firearms Act that will be applied to persons involved with illegal weapons.
