La Liga giant Barcelona may be forced to sell players in order complete a full squad renewal of registered players.This, as new signee defender Jules Kounde is yet to be listed as player due to La Liga’s compliance regulations.
Kounde, who joined the Catalans from Sevilla in July for a reported £42 million, is still unable to officially dawn the jersey of is new club due the current league stipulations.
Barca was able to have swift registrations of four other new players including marquee acquisitions; Raphina and Robert Lewandowski, the night before their league opener last weekend after emergency economic tactic.
However, they’re still faced with a financial jigsaw in order to officially add the 23-year-old frenchman to their ranks.
“At the moment, we don’t know anything. We are on standby,” Barcelona manger Xavi said.
The Barcelona and Spain legend speaking to the press ahead of the club’s clash against on Sunday.
“We are waiting. Kounde is a great leader and a great player. Hopefully he shows it soon – tomorrow, if he can play. He has trained very well, I see him in good spirits, but we need to sell players to be able to register him” he added.
Chelsea is reportedly interested in striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Dutch forward Memphis Depay has also been linked with a move away from the Spanish club.
“The transfer market ends on 31 August and we don’t know what will happen. Auba and Memphis are still here, so tomorrow we will use them. But the priority is to register Kounde ” Xavi added.
New signings Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha were involved in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
