This Sunday El Classico will orbit around the great rivalry between La Liga juggernauts Real Madrid and Barcelona. Hip Hop heavyweight Drake will also be a main feature, as Barca will dawn the rapper’s iconic OVO owl logo to celebrate his massive milestone.

The La Liga giants are sponsored by Spotify but will replace the streaming service’s logo with the recognizable owl silhouette logo on the front of jerseys during the highly anticipated fixture.

The Catalan-based club, through its Spotify partnership, will be using the occasion to celebrate Drake becoming the first artiste to earn 50 billion streams on its platform.

The club made the announcement on Thursday night with its social media accounts with pictures of the ‘6 god’ showing off the customized limited-edition gear.

Drizzy himself also shared his excitement about the news on his Instagram with pictures of himself flexing in the jersey with the caption “This doesn’t feel real but it is,”

 

 In a statement, Barcelona’s marketing vice president Juli Guiu said:

“Our alliance with Spotify goes beyond a mere commercial relationship. It is a strategic relationship through which we seek to bring together two worlds that can arouse emotion – namely music and football.”

“This initiative is another example of this desire and the innovative spirit of our collaboration ” he continued.

“For the first time in our history, we are replacing the name of our main sponsor on the front of the jersey with an internationally acclaimed artist, Drake” Guiu said.

“This initiative shows our potential to become a unique platform to offer experiences that help bring us closer to our fans while reaching out to new audiences around the world ” he added.

Xavi’s side will wear the special edition shirts with the OVO brand during the match, however, for the warm-up gear; the shirts will retain the Spotify logo on the front with ‘Drake 50’ on the back.

Barcelona who currently leads the standings on goal difference over rivals Real, with both on 22 points will be aiming to claim the outright advantage with a positive result.
