King of the Dancehall Beenie Man has revealed that he is aiming to win the 2025 Grammy Award for ‘Best Reggae Album’ as he will be releasing a new project later this year.
He made the revelation in an interview with SLEEK Entertainment after receiving a ‘gold award’ for his outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s musical landscape at the Reggae Gold Award on Thursday, held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.
The “Girls Dem Sugar’ deejay told SLEEK, that he is working on a few new pieces of music as he aims to win the next reggae GRAMMY.
Beenie Man did not reveal when exactly this year he will release the album or the name, but said, “I will tell you and the world when the time is right.”
His album ‘Simma’ was nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards in the category of Best Reggae Album but was unsuccessful as it went to Julian Marley and Antaeus with their project ‘Colors of Royal’
While he did not win, the dancehall icon is thankful for the success of his albums over the years.
However, for the project to be eligible for nomination to the 2025 GRAMMYs, it must be released between October 1, 2023, through September 15, 2024.
The “King of the Dancehall” has been nominated four times and only won once, in 2001 for “Art and Life.”
