The body of 14-year-old Hallekaye Smikle, the second St Mary Girl who was swept away in by a river in Jobs Jill, St Mary on Thursday, has been recovered by a search party.
The search which is said to have started on Thursday resumed on Saturday morning, with the team combing along the river’s course.
It’s understood that the unfortunate find was confirmed at approximately 10 am this morning in Top Leinster, following a joint operation between the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) and Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in addition to members of the community which began at 7am, officials say.
Its further understood that the body of young Hallekaye, was eventually located approximately two to three miles from the location where the incident is said to have taken place on Thursday.
This comes just over 24-hours after body of Hallekaye’s niece 10-year-old Kiwana Ricketts was recovered on Friday.
The incident has plunged the community into distress, as they share the grief of the distraught family of deceased.
It’s understood that both girls were with Kiwana’s mother along the river on Thursday, when they were swept up by the strong currents of the river during the heavy down pour.
