Former World Junior double-sprint champion, Briana Williams has reportedly changed coaching camps and is set to begin her 2022/23 Olympic campaign under the guidance of a Jamaican-based unit.
It’s understood that the Olympic 4x100m relay gold medalist will now be guided by Michael Frater and Gregory Little at the Kingston-based Titans International Track Club.
It’s further understood that the change was done with the blessing of her longtime coach; former World Champion Ato Bolton.
Bolton, who has coached Williams throughout her junior career is said to have been very understanding and prepared for her transition into a suitable camp that is able to help her further her potential in the senior ranks having already dominated the junior levels.
Boldon, who has also been a mentor to Williams will however remain as a close confidant and guide reports underscored. HSI Sports and LEEP Marketing, have also been retained as her agent and managers respectively.
Williams has had arguably her best season ever performance-wise at the senior level after twice shattering her lifetime bests. First 10.98 seconds at the Jubilee series on June 08 at Jamaica College, before again lowering that time to 10.94 in an epic National championship final at the National Stadium also a few weeks later.
She was also part of the Silver medal as part of the women’s 4×100 m team at the World Championships in Eugene Oregon.
The 20-year-old sprint sensation will now join the likes of rising younger Akeem Blake, veteran sprinter; double Olympic silver medalist Yohan Blake along with former Commonwealth Games champion; Kemar Bailey-Cole.
