Reggae Girlz Captain, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw scored another major football accolade after being named CONCACAF Women’s Player of the Year on Friday.
The award was officially announced via the CONCACAF website and shared social media page on Friday night.
The Jamaican topped five other high-caliber contenders nominated for the award, including Olympic and World Cup winners.
Bunny also shared the moment on her social media as she thanked fans for their continued support.
The Award further justifies her performances for both club and country this season.
Shaw, who has been racking up Player of the Month awards in England, has been at her prolific best for Women’s Super League (WSL) Manchester City, netting a single-season club record of 27 goals in 25 games, 18 of which are in the WSL as she also leads the race for the golden boot award this season.
Shaw has also been instrumental in leading the Reggae Girlz in qualifications for their second consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the Jamaican is seen as a “to-watch” player in the summer tournament.
Reggae Boyz skipper, Andre Blake who was shortlisted in the male category lost out to Canada’s Alphonso Davies who captured his second regional award.
