The Cameroonians however tournament depended on a win played like it and that persistence paid off in the dying moments of the game.

Captain Vincent Aboubakar headed the winner in extra time to send the African fans into raptures as they gave themselves a lifeline out of what seemed to be a neutral situation.

They were forced to survive a nervous final minutes after being reduced to 10 men after Aboubakar was given a second caution and sent off for removing his shirt during celebrations.

Despite several chances by a marauding Brazil team to level the encounter, the Cameroon defense remained impregnable as they close with their first win at the tournament.

The win however would be their last participation in this year’s competition as Switzerland advanced as second in the group following a 3-2 win over Serbia to join Brazil on six points.
