Jamaica’s long and triple jumper Carey McLeod is currently en route to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan, where he will join other members of the track and field team ahead of competition on Saturday.

It is understood that McLeod, whose arrival to the Olympic Village was delayed due to issues with COVID-19 safety documentation, has been cleared and departed for Japan where he is expected to arrive by Thursday.

McLeod, a three-time SEC champion and six-time NCAA All-American, is the only man to qualify for the Tokyo Games in both the long and triple jump events.

The 23-year-old Kingston College Alumni is scheduled to contest the men’s long jump on Saturday at 5:10 am and the triple jump on Tuesday, August 3, at 9:00 am.
