Chanderpaul to take on USA cricket coaching

Former West Indies batting star Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been reportedly appointed as the new head coach of the USA’s Women senior and U-19 teams on an 18-month contract.

The Guyanese cricket great is set to guide the US youth team which will play in Cricket West Indies U-19 Rising Stars T20 Championship which will take place in Trinidad and Tobago from July 5-13.

Speaking to the media, the former Chanderpaul said; “I am really excited to have been appointed as the head coach of the USA National Women’s team and the Women’s U19 team.”

The West Indies legend, whose also in charge of the local Jamaica Tallawahs, expressed his pride in being part of initiatives to elevate the female game.

“The Women’s game is something I am a huge advocate of and I have followed the progress of the USA’s Women’s National team with keen interest,” he said.

Chanderpaul, who made his Test debut for the West Indies against England in 1994, has scored over 11,000 runs at an average of 51.37. This also includes 30 centuries and 66 half-centuries.
