Charlemont High School bemoans death of Vice Principal

The Faculty of the Charlemont High School in Linstead, St Catherine has been plunged into mourning following the untimely passing of Vice Principal Jennifer Giddens.

Reports indicate that Giddens died this morning while on her way to hospital after ailing from a brief illness.

Gidden’s death has brought the death toll of teachers who have died in the last 8 -days to a total of seven.

The other administrators includes Gregory Williams, Mathematics Lecturer at the Portmore Community College, who died on May 11, Ann Marie Johnson Lindo, Vice Principal of the Duncans All-Age School in Trelawny who died on Friday, Carlos Gordon, a Grade 6 teacher of One-Way Prep School in Kingston who passed on Saturday; Donnalee Wright, of the Tarrant High School in St Andrew who passed away on Monday and another educator from Edwin Allen.

In the interim both the Minister of Education Fayval Williams and President of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association Winston Smith have expressed deep anguish over the untimely passing of these astute administrators and has also expressed condolences to the families and extended communities.

In addition, President Smith has outlined that grief counselling will also be administered to the affected parties.
