Clarks Originals has launched their Jamaica-inspired Clarks known as The Dancehall Collection paying homage to the genre and Jamaica, for fully embracing the British shoemaker’s iconic styles.
For decades Clarks has and have been the preferred shoe for Jamaicans both male and female, however, it was in the early 2000 when the popular now incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel made it even more popular with his song Clarks- which features Popcaan and Gaza Slim (Vanessa Bling).
At the time, Kartel claimed to have had more than 50 pairs of original Clarks and was featured in The Guardian.
While the brand was popular, he further boosted the popularity of the brand in Jamaica and by extension the Caribbean.
Understanding all that, Clarks Originals is saluting Jamaica with this collection that sees the Wallabee and Wallabee Boot silhouettes in new designs consisting of the colors green, blush pink, and blue, which are said to be reminiscent of Jamaica’s bold culture.
It was officially released on August 22, 2023, and the British shoemaker says “Each style in the collection also features our signature natural crepe sole and is carefully crafted with premium materials.”
The Dancehall collection is available online at clarks.co.uk, clarksusa.com, clarkscanada.com, clarks.eu, and worldwide at selected retailers.
