Sprint sensations Tina Clayton and teammate Serena Cole are set to highlight the Day 4 of the World Athletics U-20 Championships when they line up for the 100m in Wednesday’s finals day in Cali, Columbia.

Both Jamaicans comfortably advanced to the semi -finals on Tuesday, and are expected to reach today’s finals which is set as the last event of the day.

Clayton is set to take her blocks in the second semi-final in lane 5 with Cole also lining up in lane 5 for Semi-final 3

While it’s expected that semis will provide some excitement in the afternoon session, all attention would be anxiously awaiting the results of the grand finale.  More specifically the performance of U-20 record-holder Clayton, who has looked supreme all season.

Following an absolutely mesmerizing world record run of 9.91 seconds in the men’s 100m by Botswana’s Lestile Tebogo on Tuesday, an air of anticipation has permeated the track world, as to what to expect in the women’s finals.

Clayton who had set the current record of 10.96 seconds at the National championships in June, has already shown that she remains in that form at theses championships.

Given the pace of the Cali track, she could take a crack at her own mark if conditions remain.

Cole who finished second to Clayton at the trials, also has a strong personal record of 11.13 seconds, which was also set in that final, and looks in form to lower that time as well in today’s showdown.

All indicators show that the Jamaicans should advance to this evening’s finals and looks likely to push each other to their best times which is likely to make for great entertainment for track fans and neutrals alike.
