Football’s all-time leading goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo is again at the cusp of creating more history this time at the club level as he is now one goal shy of a staggering 700 club goals.
Ronaldo’s goal against Moldavian team Sheriff Tiraspolin in Manchester United’s 2-0 win in the Europa League was also not only his first goal of the season but was also his 699th strike in his club career.
The Portugal talisman who is used to topping statistics everywhere he goes already holds the record for club and internationals and is only extending his record with every strike.
The goal was his 146th strike in a United jersey which moves him to 13th all-time for the Red Devils.
This adds to his staggering statistics in Europe which include 450 goals for Real Madrid, 101 goals for Juventus and five for his first team Sporting Lisbon.
Ronaldo who has football’s all-time record of 815 career goals for both club and country broke Ale Dei’s international goal record of 109 goals last year and has since moved his record to 115 for Portugal.
With United’s game against Leeds postponed, he could reach that milestone in spectacular fashion when they play Derby rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on October 2.
