Football star Cristiano Ronaldo continues to show his unrivalled social media influence after setting the record for most subscribers in 24 hours with 20 million following the launch of his channel on Wednesday.

The previous record was held by YouTube star Mr Beast, who needed two years to amass the 20 million subs in two years.

The feat came hours after becoming the first person in YouTube history to earn a gold play button for 1 million subscribers the same day as their channel launch, after setting a record 8 million in one hour.

Ronaldo’s new record adds to his already massive influence on social media as he also has the most followers on Instagram with a whopping 636 million.
