As Dr. Peter Phillips retires from representational politics, he is set to pass the East Central St. Andrew constituency baton to Dennis Gordon.
Back in 2021, Dr. Phillips announced his intention to retire from representational politics, bringing to a close 3 decades of service to the constituency, the People’s National Party, and the Jamaican people at large to an end.
He has served in many capacities from local to international arenas.
According to WAVE media, to facilitate an efficient transition of leadership, Dr. Phillips resigned as Chairman of the Constituency Executive in February 2021, and to complete the transition and signal the Constituency’s readiness for elections, Mr. Gordon will be formally presented by the Party as its candidate for MP in the next General Elections.

Gordon is the Councillor for the Maxfield Park Division in St Andrew East Central, and according to the PNP, he has the full support of the people.
The constituency has historically been a PNP stronghold, and Gordon will be confirmed on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Norman Manley High School.
