A woman in China discovered that the swollen look of her eye was a result of five contact lenses lodged behind her eyelid during a facial cosmetic procedure.
According to a case report published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, an “otherwise healthy” 33-year-old woman who arrived at a plastic surgery clinic in China, wanting to repair her “facial contour asymmetry”, left doctors stunned after making the bizarre discovery during an unrelated procedure.

The report noted that “while performing fat injection … several transparent contact lenses migrated from the upper fornix” — the space between the upper eyelid and eyeball. When her surgeons flipped her left upper eyelid inside out, “a total of five soft contact lenses were discovered.”

When the fat was injected, it “compress[ed] the space … forcing the lenses out.”
commenting on the discovery, the woman shared that she had worn for years; however, she cited that she kept losing them
“She recollected instances of losing her left contact lens several times many years prior. Interestingly, she had not experienced any ocular symptoms before this surgical intervention.”
Following the revelation, it would now be sufficient to deduce where the missing contacts had gone over the years.
