Drake ties Jay-Z’s record for most No.1 rap albums

Hip hop heavy weight Drake etched his name further among the greatest musicians of his generation after equaling Hip Hop Legend Jay-Z for the most number of rap albums by a solo artiste.

Drizzy’s most recent release- Her Loss which was joint project with 21 Savage was his 14th official studio drop.

The Project which was heavily publicized following its controversial marketing tactic of a fictitious promo tour and features in noted publications namely vogue magazine was confirmed as the top-selling album in its opening week registering over 400,000 equivalent in unit sales.

The feat confirmed Drake landmark moment of going level with Jay with a perfect 14 successive top-selling projects.

Drizzy’s 14-for-14 dates back to his major label debut album Thank Me Later, which dropped in 2010, while hov’s streak began with his third solo album in 1998- Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life.

According to Billboard; Some albums aren’t included for both men but still have them tied for the most entries as a rapper on the chart.

 Jay’s collaborative album with Beyoncé, Everything Is Love, debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart in 2018.

While inclusion on Drake, the Young Money compilation album “We Are Young Money” also earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart in 2009.

The feat comes after the rapper took nine of the top 10 songs on the Billboard hot 100 charts, with his viral Rich Flex debuting at number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs.
