Former World Cup champion England is set to tackle Gold Cup champions USA on Friday in what is potentially a decider in who will take Group B honors as the second set of games kick off in the World Cup.

Group leader England, will be eying an early second-round qualification with back-to-back wins and will start as favorites to take this encounter.

Following their 6-2 thrashing of Iran in their opener, the “Three Lions” will no doubt be confident in doing so.

USA who showed quality against Wales would have been disappointed in relinquishing a late lead to settle for a drawn result in their first game and will want to prove a point against England.

They, however, will face a much stern challenge facing the European championships Finalist who also has a point to prove, and given the US’s defensive vulnerability especially on counterattacks, it could present a major issue against an offensively strong England team.

A win for England will guarantee a place in the next round with maximum six points while a US win will see them take top spot on four depending on other results, while a draw will benefit England more.

Poland will face surprise package Saudi Arabia in Group D while the Netherlands tackle Ecuador in Group A action.
