Reggae singer Etana continues to be recognised for her musical mark after being honoured with her own day in the Florida-based community Lauderhill.

The Grammy-nominated artiste shared news of the recognition along with the official proclamation from the Mayor with fans Monday night via her social media.

In an emotional post, the “August Town” singer reflected on her early years growing up in the area after her mother migrated to the States as she expressed thanks for the honour decades later.

Fans also expressed pride in the singer’s recognition with a series of congratulatory messages in her comments.

Etana has carved out a name for herself as a standout Reggae singer, with several classic Roots classics cradled by her powerful vocals and delivery of commanding emotional appeal.

The “I’m Not Afraid” singer who became the first woman in over 20 years to be nominated for a Best Reggae Album Grammy in 2018 for ‘Reggae Forever’ before being the first ever to earn a second nod in 2020 for Pajoma.
