Bruno Fernandes handed Manchester United their first points in three Premier League games as they clipped Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Fernandes’ goal came right before the halftime break after he expertely volleyed home a first-time finish from Jonny Evans’ lofted pass into the goal goal area.

His goal proved to be the decisive factor in the contest as United held on to their narrow lead despite threatening moments from a pressing Burnley.

The result snaps an overall three-game losing streak by the Red Devils as they move up to eight in the table with nine points from six played.

The win is also a well-needed respite for the former champions and manager Erik ten Haag, who’s been under pressure following a start to the season both on and off the pitch.

Ten Haag would no doubt feel justified in his decision to drop Jadon Sancho from the squad amidst a reported falling out with the winger.

They’re next set to be in action on Tuesday when they face Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.
