There has been an outcry of shock surrounding the increase in salaries for parliamentary members and both the Governor General and Chief Justice.
Understanding this, the Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke said some of this dialogue is based on a misunderstanding of how the salary for the Governor General is determined and who determines it.

Nonetheless, the Govonor General Sir Patrick Allen, King Charles’ representative in Jamaica is set to receive an almost 200 percent increase in salary, which will move his publicly funded income to just over $34 million per year.
The GG was previously paid a salary of just over $12 million.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice is set to receive emoluments totaling $34,837,000 effective April 1 this year.
