Firearm and ammunition seized in Kingston

An illegal firearm along with several rounds of ammunition were seized during a joint police/ military operation in Luke lane in Downtown Kingston yesterday.

Reports state that The Kingston Central Police Division along with members of the Jamaica Defence Force carried out an operation at an abandoned building in Luke lane.

During the search, lawmen seized a Smith and Wesson 9-milimeter pistol with a magazine containing 26 9-milimeter cartridges, nine .40 cartridges and over 100-thousand Jamaican dollars.

No suspect has since been detained in connection with the seizure.

This seizure also comes a week after lawmen seized a 9-millimeter pistol along with eight 9-millimeter rounds of ammunition on 3rd Street, Greenwich Farm, Kingston 13 on Thursday, December 22.

No arrests have since been made in relation to the find however investigations are ongoing.
