Firearm seized at bar in Westmoreland

A firearm was seized by the Westmoreland police during a snap raid at a bar on Barracks Road in Negril on Tuesday.

Reports state that around 10:55 p.m., acting on prior intelligence, went to the premises and conducted a search. The search yielded a .38 revolver.

No arrests was made in connection with this seizure.

Lawmen also seized a .38 Taurus revolver with one .38 casing was found behind a refrigerator inside a bar in Ketto District, Springfield in the parish on Tuesday night as well.

Two women including 53-year-old bar operator Clovis Drummond, and 21-year-old bartender Yvette McInnis, were arrested and charged in connection with this seizure.

So far, the parish has recorded a significant increase in firearm and ammunition seizures. Since the start of 2022 over 64 firearms as well as 53 rounds of ammunition have been seized.
