Investigators assigned to the Ocho Rios Police station have seized a firearm loaded with ammunition following a routine operation in the vicinity on Monday.

In addition to the seizure, lawmen also arrested a suspect linked to the find.

Police reports state that the suspect who was identified as a Kingston bearer was seen on a motorcycle void of license plates which aroused the suspicion of the police.

The suspect was then accosted and searched. During a search of the area, lawmen seized a Taurus nine-millimeter pistol with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition which was found hidden in an almond tree.

The suspect was subsequently taken in custody on the suspicion of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The identity of the suspect however is being withheld pending further investigations.
