Following a stoning incident at Three Miles in Kingston last night, five JUTC buses were damaged. A driver, who is employed by the company, and a female passenger, have suffered injuries to their eyes and have since sought medical attention.

Since this event, a plea has been issued by officials of the Jamaican Urban Transit Company, urging members of the public to desist in stoning these vehicles as it is quite costly to source parts that are only available overseas.

To date, a total of 59 windscreen damages have been reported thus far.

Additionally, a brief summary has revealed that since January 2018, a total of 312 incidents of vandalism has been reported, with 2018 boasting the highest record of 99 vandalisms. However, 2019 saw a decrease in figures, with 95 incidents of vandalism being reported and 2020 with a total number of 65 incidents of vandalism.

JUTC is now urging members of the public to report incidents of vandalism to the nearest police station or via Whatsapp at 1876-570-1789.
