It has been confirmed that a total of five students from Ocho Rios Primary School are still being treated at the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital after they consumed sweets laced with ganja on Monday.
The sweets were purchased from a vendor outside the school gate and a total of 65 children were rushed to hospital. This was because they had major dehydration and hallucination problems.
According to the Chief Executive Officer at the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, Delroy Morgan, the five students still in the hospital include three girls and two boys, aged seven to 10 years.
He also noted that they are under observation.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has said the sweets entered the island illegally.
The National Council on Drug Abuse is to test the product to determine its ingredients.

However, they are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US where the sweets are allegedly from.
