Five suspects arrested, charged in connection with firearm and ammunition seizure

Five men were arrested and later charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition after the vehicle they were travelling in was searched on Spanish Town Road in Kingston on December 22.

Charged are Jahmala Vernon, otherwise called ‘Bobby’ or ‘Andrew Blacks’, a 24-year-old lifeguard of Blue Hole in St Ann, Roye Stubs, otherwise called ‘Dex’, a 30-year-old laborer of Steer Town in St Ann, Rojay Case, otherwise called ‘Chubby’, a 26-year-old of Hollywood in Steer Town, St Ann, Jason Denbor, otherwise called ‘Travis’, a 25-year-old laborer of Hollywood district in Steer Town, St Ann, and Alex McBean a 20-year-old laborer of Hollywood district in Steer Town, St Ann.

All five men have been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and trafficking of an illegal firearm.

Preliminary reports state that around 2:35 a.m., the police were on patrol along the Spanish Town road when the driver of a Toyota Mark X was signalled to stop.

The driver complied and the vehicle was subsequently searched. The search yielded a Glock 9-millimeter pistol with a magazine affixed containing six rounds of ammunition.

All five men were taken into police custody and later charged.
