The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has indicated that the flash flood warning issued for low- lying and flood prone areas such as St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, and Manchester, will remain in effect until 5 p.m. today.

This comes as a trough across the island continues to create unstable weather conditions across Jamaica and the Central Caribbean.

As such, periods of moderate rainfall and thunderstorms will continue across the island for most parishes today.

Furthermore, due to the extended period of rainfall, and high ground saturations, landslides are imminent.

Residents are also being advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
