“I almost feel like you leave us no choice”, said Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. The Korean-language dystopian drama has become Netflix’s biggest TV-show launch of all time with 142 million households tuning in to watch. Though it is common for Korean television shows to be limited to one season, Squid Game‘s overwhelming support has led to the continuation of Gi-Hun’s story.

A red carpet celebration for the series’ success saw Hwang Dong-hyuk saying “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season”.

He continued by assuring fans, “It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will be back and he’ll do something for the world”.
