A 20-year-old Indian man is accused of having eloped with his 40-year-old soon-to-be mother-in-law only 9 days before his wedding.
According to reports, A 20-year-old man named Rahul, who was preparing to take the hand of the bride-to-be, Shivan, became the hot topic of Indian social chatter following as news circulated that it was the hand of Anita, his mother-in-law he opted for.
The shocking news was reported to have unfolded just nine days before his planned big day with her daughter, his would-be-bride. Another layer of shock was added to the bewilderment of the situation following further reporting that the two cleared out savings from the accounts of couple and Anita’s famly.
It’s understood that Rahul, who was last seen on April 7, left home, claiming to have gone shopping for wedding clothes, before later telling his father not to look for him. It’s further reported that it was around that time Shivani noticed that her mother Anita and all their savings had also gone without notice.
“I was supposed to marry Rahul on April 16, and my mother eloped with him on Sunday. Rahul and my mother used to talk on the phone a lot over the past three to four months,” Shivani told Indian reporters. “My mother has taken all our money. “She can do what she wants now, we don’t care. All we want is that the money and jewellery should be returned to us.”
Speaking to local media, members from both families, including Anita’s husband, lamented about noticing how they behaved around each other but dismissed it as a farfetched idea of what could transpire.
