Viral dancehall entertainer Robert Lee Malcolm popularly known as Gully Bop has died at the age of 59.
Reports noted that he was admitted to the Kingston Public Hospital for some time before his passing.
Bop was reportedly suffering from kidney disease for the past few months and was admitted to the hospital where he had been receiving treatment.
Back in 2021, he was hospitalized following a hernia repair surgery and since then, his health has been deteriorating, and was urgently in need of medication and daily essentials. This saw him having to visit the hospital several times.
His sickness placed a hold on the release of his debut album, One Life which he started recording in December 2021.
Gully Bop was gearing up to release the 12-track project and intended it to be Grammy-worthy.
No word since last year on the project but it was inspired by his debut EP, ‘Rumours’ in 2019.
Gully Bop rose to fame in 2014 with his catchy track, “Body Specialist” when he was recorded deejaying on the streets which went viral on social media and gave birth to his music career.
The song was later produced and Bop closed out STING 2014.
The following year, 2015, Bop shared the stage with the iconic Ninjaman and Merciless at the world-famous Ghetto Splash.
He is also known for songs; “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Mi”, “Kill Dem with Style“, “Hope and Pray”, “Bop Again” and a few more.
