Manchester City striker Erling Haaland snapped his goal drought after scoring the only goal of their 1-0 victory over Southampton to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday.
Haaland, the reigning Golden Boot winner, had been starved for goals over City’s last three fixtures and would’ve been hoping to have a change of fortunes against the “Saints” at home.
His prayers were answered in the fifth minute following a powerful left-footed volley from the centre of the box by the Norwegian after latching on a Matheus Nunes cross for his neat assist.
That goal, Halaand’s 11th of the season, proved to be the decisive bit of action in the game, as both teams cancelled each other out for the remaining 85 minutes for a 1-0 final score.
The win sees City climb to the top of the standings, if only temporarily on 23 points, two ahead of Liverpool, who are set to face Arsenal in a crucial fixture on Sunday.
