Former Haitian Senator, John Joel Joseph, who has been on the run after it was revealed that he was one of five suspects wanted in connection with the assassination of former Haitian President Jovenel Moise, will be extradited to the United States.

This judgement was handed down this morning at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish court after a committal was signed by Joseph waving his right to a hearing.

Joseph is also accused of renting four vehicles that were used by the Colombian assassins on the night of the deadly attack.

Following this, Joseph was apprehended by police during an operation in Warminster, St Elizabeth on January 15.

Further reports also indicated that Joseph had been paying off residents to help keep his identity and presence in town a secret, and even offered the Jamaican cops who came to arrest him at $2 million bribe to let him escape.

Following his arrest, Joseph, along with his wife and sons, were remanded on immigration charges.

Joseph, however, applied for asylum, citing safety concerns after his wife was reportedly shot by a Haitian gunman.

Meanwhile, the other key suspect in his murder plot, ex-Colombian military officer Mario Antonio Palacios, was deported from Jamaica on January 3.

Palacios was intercepted in Panama by US law enforcement agents and taken to Florida, where he was charged with various crimes related to Moïse’s assassination
