Hanover man charged with firearm possession

A 27-year-old man from Lucea who used a gun in an apparent domestic dispute was charged following his surrender to the police last week.

The accused Michael Thomas a laborer of Prosper Road in Lucea was charged with illegal possession of firearm as well as wounding with intent.

According to police reports on Friday July 22 at 7:30 p.m., the accused was involved in a heated argument with four persons at his home.

As the ordeal intensified, Thomas then left the premises to retrieve the handgun and opened fire at his opponent. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was admitted and treated.

A formal report was filed by the complainant and a subsequent investigation was launched. On Thursday September 29, the accused turn himself in to the police.

However, on Friday of that same week, the accused was interviewed and subsequently charged. As it now stands, the accused’s court date is being finalized.
