Shericka Jackson verified her status as the undisputed champion of the women’s 200m after producing a champion record to cop gold in the World Championships on Friday.
Jackson clocked a sizzling 21.41s to claim her second consecutive world championship title. She got ahead of USA pair Gabby Thomas (21.81) and ShaCarri Richardson (21.92).
The race was virtually decided after 110 metres, as the Jamaican proved to be the top class athlete of the field.
Running from Lane 5, Jackson was a picture of technical superiority as she quickly assumed control of the race in the 100 metres before pulling away in the final 70 metres unchallenged.
The Jamaican, who was piped for gold made no mistake in the half lap as she verified her status as the undisputed champion in the event.
The win is a major boost for Jackson, who will be seeking to end the championships as a double champion when she joins the 4x100m squad in the final which is set for Saturday.
In the men’s equivalent, Andrew Hudson had to settle for sixth in 20.40 seconds.
