IMF Deputy Managing Director in Jamaica

The Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Bo Li, has arrived in Jamaica for major meetings with several members within the finance sector.

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke Monday morning welcomed Mr. Li and says he is in Jamaica to coordinate “the scaling up of private sector financing for investments.”

The Minister this will help to “generate jobs and reduce Jamaica’s vulnerabilities to natural disaster and climate change.”

Dr. Clarke added that “Jamaica is serious about working with the international community to increase investments in Jamaica.”

In the meanitme, Mr. Li was engaged in a high-level meeting that included representatives from the Jamaican government, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Investment Bank (EIB), and the IMF.
