Increased murders in Kingston Central, St Catherine, St James

Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have been on high alert following a spree of violent crimes that have occurred in the Kingston Central, St Catherine, St James, and Westmoreland policing divisions last weekend.

Information from the JCF’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) has revealed that over 15 murders and three injuries have been recorded this weekend from the aforementioned policing divisions.

The murders include that of a 16-year-old student from Irwin Heights in St, James; Chris Jay Thompson who was murdered by unknown assailants on January 22; 52-year-old George Smith of Beverly Gardens, Kingston; 66-year-old Sharon Ricketts from Cassinor Drive, Naggo Head, St Catherine; 28-year-old Roshane Rankine; 46-year-old Wayne Williams of Three Hills, St Mary; 24-year-old Sherene Stevens of Fraser Content, Spanish Town, St Catherine and 22-year-old businessman Everton Johnson of Fullersfield, Westmoreland.

Other murders listed include that of 46-year-old taxi operator Hugh Smith from a Kingston 2 address, who was shot and killed in his home by unknown assailants.

Meanwhile, a triple murder also occurred in Trelawny on Friday, where three individuals were killed and three injured at an illegal party in the parish.

Dead are 24-year-old Daniel Williams of Crossroads, Bounty Hall; 26-year-old Tashe Black, and 25-year-old Shaneilia Clarke of Bounty Hall, Trelawny.

Following this rampant display, police officers assigned to each division have now issued an urgent plea for citizens to come forward with any information that will be used to aid in investigations.

Citizens are also being asked to contact the nearest police station in their division or Crime Stop at 311 and the emergency number 911.
