Instagram users can now publicly comment on story posts as part of the latest feature roll-out by the platform to boost engagement.

The Social Media giant announced the added feature via their creator page on Tuesday.

According to the release, anyone able to view your story post will be able to see the comments, however, only pages that follow each other will be able to comment by default.

Users will, however, be able to turn off comments on the individual stories much like regular posts.

“Story comments [provide] an easy way to connect with friends and spark conversations..” the page said commenting on the addition.

The feature comes on the heels of its previous update which allows users to add music to their profiles.
