Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m relay team closed out day 8 of the 2023 World Championships with silver following their second-place finish in the event on Saturday.
The team, which saw a reshuffle for the finals with Natasha Morrison and Shericka Jackson replacing Elaine Thompson-Herah and Brianna Williams, logged a season best of 41.21 seconds to finish just behind the USA, who stopped the clock in a championship record 41.08 seconds.
The excitement of the race lived up to its billing with medals decided on the final leg of the relay, which piped the 100m gold and silver medalists (Sha’Carri Richardson and Sherrkca Jackson) against each other in a battle worthy of a curtain-closer.
It was the second consecutive World Championship silver for the Olympic champions, who also finished runners-up in Oregon last year.
They will no doubt be keen on working on a few things ahead of the Olympic title defence in Paris, France, next year.
