With just a few days to go, Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Jordanne Lauren Levy feels “fantastic” after votes allowed her to secure her spot in the Miss Universe Voice of Change top 10.

Monday night was the last chance for the ‘Universe’ (voting public) to show their support. Jamaica is ranked number 7 out of 90 countries having obtained 41, 774 votes.

The ‘Voice for Change’ allowed this year’s contestants to share their advocacies through a three-minute video. The public was then invited to take part and “choose the voices that resonate with them”.

For Dr. Levy, it is “exciting”, and she is thankful for all who voted. She further stated that she is thrilled to be able to add her voice as a passionate Jamaican and medical doctor to help others.

According to local Pageant Director Mark McDermott, this is encouraging.

He said, “We have all worked very hard on the content and the general storyline and she’s had many late hours editing it and putting it together, so an acknowledgment of the team’s hard work is very encouraging.”

Jamaica isn’t the only Caribbean country in the top 10 as the Dominican Republic sits at No. 4 with 61, 610 votes.

Meanwhile, the Philippines tops the list with a whopping 265,463 votes, followed by Nicaragua in second and Ukraine in third.

Besides the ‘Voice for Change’ platform, Miss Universe is also recording fan votes through its app. The candidate who clinches the highest number of votes will automatically be part of the semifinals.

The Miss Universe pageant final is set for Saturday, November 18, 2023, in El Salvador.
