Jamaica’s men’s Lacrosse team continued their perfect start at the World Lacrosse Championships following an intense 6-4 win over Poland in San Diego on Saturday

The Jamalax team who announced their presence in the tournament in a major way by taking the scalps of Germany and Switzerland in their opening two games, proved it was no fluke with a third win in San Diego.

Jamalax’s notoriously quick start was again a major factor in their win on Saturday as they set the early pace after leading 2-0 in the first quarter.

Khari Sears and Evon Redwood gave the Jamaicans the start they needed with a goal each in the final eight minutes of what was a defensive opening quarter.

Jamaica however picked up the pace in an action-packed second period scoring three of the five goals in the quarter.

Sears again opened the scoring with an early strike in the first two minutes to extend Jamaica’s lead to 3-0, before Joel Brown and Marcus Minichello added to Jamaica’s tally mid-way through the quarter.

However, Poland responded with two goals of their own through Lucas Hucal and Collin Jesien, who converted penalties to cut the deficit to three going into the halftime break.

Jamaica opened the session with the first goal in the third quarter before Poland rallied with two goals to take that period 2-1.

That was however where the goals stopped in the game as the final quarter ended scoreless as the Jamaicans held on for a 6-4 win to remain unbeaten in the championships.

With a maximum of six points from the games, Pool D leaders Jamaica has all but secured their qualification to the knockout stage with a game to play.

They will be looking to advance directly to the quarter-finals with victory in the final pool game against New Zealand on Monday.
