Jamaica’s women’s team safely progressed to the 4X400m relay final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games a short while ago.
The quartet of Junelle Bromfield, Roneisha McGregor, Janieve Russell and, Stacey-Ann Williams placed second in 3:21.95 minutes behind the United States (3:20.86), while Great Britain (3:23.99) finished in third.
Bromfield gave the Jamaicans a pretty decent start from lane nine, passing on to McGregor who positioned in second behind the Americans and from there, the top two pulled away.
That left Russell and Williams with just the task of getting the baton around to confirm Jamaica a lane in the medal battle.
Stephanie-Ann McPherson and Candice McLeod are expected to strengthen the team for the final scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 am.
