The Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service) says Jamaica remains under a tropical storm watch as Tropical Depression Grace approaches south-western Haiti and closer to the island.

This, the Met Service said, means that tropical storm conditions continue to pose a possible threat to Jamaica within 48 hours.

Grace is moving towards the west-northwest near 20 km/h (13 mph) and a west to west-northwest motion is expected during the next few days.

The Met Service said that the centre of Grace is forecast to move near the Tiburon Peninsula of south-western Haiti through tonight and then pass between Jamaica and Cuba on Tuesday as a tropical storm.

It is expected to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms across Jamaica starting late tonight and continuing through the day on Tuesday.
