In a statement on Tuesday, the Tourism Ministry reported the latest arrivals include more than 1.7 million stopover visitors and more than 7-hundred and 40 thousand cruise passengers.

That’s more than twice the number recorded for the corresponding period last year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, gross earnings amounted to nearly 2.6 billion US dollars, representing a 24 percent increase over the first seven months of 2022.

It notes that Jamaica is on track to meet its projections of 3-point-8 million visitors and earnings of 4-point-1 billion US dollars by the end of the year.

For his part, Portfolio Minister, Ed Bartlett is in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, for the World Athletics Championships where he’s leading a marketing blitz to promote Destination Jamaica.
