Jamaican born Kofi Cockburn will soon be part of the NBA after signing for franchise Utah Jazz on Friday. Cockburn who was studying at the University of Illinois attracted the interests of the Western Conference top tier team after he auditioned for them in a work out earlier in June.
Evidently the franchise was impressed by the Illinois big man and agreed to the signing following the recently concluded 2022 NBA draft.
Speaking to the local media outlet following the news Kofi said he was “Just showing them what I worked on this summer,” adding, “My short rolls, making decisions out of it, my short floaters, touch shots around the rim, my energy obviously, I have a really high motor.”
It’s understood that the Jamaican has been among the most productive players in collegiate league over the last three seasons, including averaging a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double during his junior season.
It’s expected that Cockburn will join the Jazz for the Salt Lake City Summer League which is set to begin on July 5 at Vivint Arena, before traveling with the team to Nevada for the Las Vegas Summer League set for July 7.
