Jamaica’s Leah Nugent and Ronda Whyte suffered heartbreaks in their respective heats of the 400m hurdles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics a short while ago.

Both were expected to join national champion Janieve Russell in the next round, but it was not to be.

Nugent played the waiting game for the first 300m in heat three where she was up against world record holder Sydney McLaughlin. She produced a late burst to finish fourth, but was later disqualified for a lane violation.

Meanwhile, Whyte, who lined up in lane two of heat four, reacted in 0.92 and was later shown the dreaded red card for a false-start.
