Kari Douglas, Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor for the Trafalgar Division has hired Peter Champagnie to represent her following her arrest on Friday night.

Douglas has been charged for assaulting and obstructing the police.
However, she has strongly denied the allegations.

The incident reportedly took place at about 8:30 pm in Swallowfield which falls in her Division.

The police were responding to calls about a gathering in the community where it is alleged that Douglas used her vehicle to block the path of the police while they were effecting an arrest.

She was granted Station bail and is to face court on March 16.
