It appears that the saga between Usher, Keke Palmer and her child’s father, Darius Jackson is far from over after she was cast in the video for the singer’s new single “Boyfriend.”
The video which was released on Wednesday, sees the actress star as Usher’s opposite in a fun twin-like visual inspired by his 2001 “U Don’t Have To Call” music video.
On Tuesday, Usher sent social media into a frenzy after posting a teaser for the upcoming music video on his social media.
“Somebody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me,” which Usher crooned near the end of the teaser turned out to be the chorus of the track, which itself may raise a few eyebrows.
“Boyfriend “has so far racked up more than 120,000 streams in its first three hours of release.
Last month the two made headlines after Keke was chided by Jackson for her attire while she was being serenaded by Usher during his Vegas performance.
Jackson, who had received backlash for his comments, also reacted to the backlash via Twitter.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”
While Palmer never publicly/directly responded to Jackson’s comments, she opted to post more pictures of herself and her outfit from that night, tagging Usher in the post.
The incident had since spawned into a ‘meme-like’ scenario about relationships after going to Usher concerts.
Model Winnie Harlow notoriously hopped into boyfriend Kyle Kuzma’s lap while being approached by Usher, seemingly to avoid any potential controversy.
During an interview with US publication People Magazine in August, the “Confessions” hitmaker broke his silence on the now infamous incident.
“Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to… but it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going, and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.”
